RBPF Nassau: Police investigates armed robbery - Illegal firearm recovered -

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY  

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are searching for two men responsible for an armed robbery which occurred Thursday, 17th January, 2019.

According to reports, shortly 12:00noon, a female was walking in the parking lot of a strip mall on Madeira Street, when she was approached by two men, one armed with a firearm who robbed her of her handbag which contained cash and other personal items, before getting into a blue colour vehicle and speeding away.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident and have information that can assist the investigation, to call the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2 or the nearest Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED

According to reports, shortly after 4:00pm, Thursday, 17th January, 2019 Flying Squad Officers, while patrolling McCartney Lane off Wulff Road, saw two of men sitting on a wall. The men, upon seeing the officers jumped from the wall and ran, making good their escape. The Officers searched the area where the men were sitting and recovered a .45 pistol and three (3) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this matter. Investigations are ongoing.

176 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY
MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR
 
Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of twenty-five (25) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, house breaking, assault and drug possession over the past 48 hours. 

Additionally, 176 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.

PREVENTION CRIME TIP - TAKE A STAND AGAINST ILLEGAL FIREARMS BY COOPERATING WITH THE POLICE IN PROVIDING INFORMATION REGARDING THE WHEREABOUTS OF ANY ILLEGAL FIREARM.
