on the Island of New Providence are searching for two men responsible
for an armed robbery which occurred Wednesday, 16th January, 2019.
According
to reports, shortly after 12:00mid night, two men were standing on the
outside of a bar on McCullough Corner, when they were approached by two
armed men, one dressed in dark colour clothing and the other in
camouflage clothing, who held them at bay and robbed them of cash, cell
phones and other personal items, before firing their weapons and running
away.
No one was injured. Investigations are ongoing. ILLEGAL AMMUNITION SEIZED, 1 ADUT MALE IN CUSTODY
An adult male was taken into custody following the seizure of a quantity of illegal ammunition Tuesday, 15th January, 2019.
According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, Flying Squad Officers and Officers from Royal Bahamas Defense Force, were responding to reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Culmer’s Alley off Kemp Road, when they observed a male, standing on the side of the street. The male, upon seeing the officers, began running. Officers gave chase, caught the male and recovered from him fifteen (15) rounds of .45 ammunition and three (3) rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition.
The male was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before the Magistrate Court this week.
FIREARM AND DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED
Police have recovered from the streets of New Providence, an unlicensed firearm and a small quantity of suspected marijuana Wednesday, 16th January, 2019.
According to reports, shortly after 12:00 mid night, Flying Squad Officers, acting on information conducted a search of an abandon building on Quarry Mission Road and recovered a Mossberg Rifle and a small quantity of suspected marijuana.
No arrest was made in this matter. Investigations are ongoing.
DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR
Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of twenty-six (26) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, murder, stealing and possession of dangerous drugs over the past 48 hours.
Additionally, 84 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
