RBPF Nassau: Police investigates country’s latest homicide - Armed robberies

POLICE INVESTIGATES COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDE

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult male, Friday, 21st December, 2018.
 
According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, Police responded to Hampton Street, Stapleton Gardens, after receiving reports that a man was found unresponsive, near an abandon building. Officers discovered the man with injuries to his body. Paramedics were called to the scene, attempted to revive the victim, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist in solving this incident, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERIES

Police on New Providence are actively searching for the men responsible a number of armed robberies, which occurred over night.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, Friday, 21st December, 2018, a female pulled up to a residence on Sandilands Village Road, when she was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who robbed her of her, handbag, which contained cash and other items, before running away.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, Friday, 21st December, 2018, a female pulled up to a residence on Rum Close, when she was approached by an armed man, who robbed her of her handbag, which contained cash and other items, before running away.

In the third incident, according to reports, shortly after 3:00am, Saturday, 22nd December, 2018 a male was in the area of Fort Charlotte, when he was approached by a group of men, one armed with a sharp object, who robbed him of cash, cell phone and jewelry, before getting into a black Acura car and sped away.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE ARE APPEALING TO ANYONE WITH INFORMATION REGARDING ANY CRIME, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR INSIGNIFICANT (THE TIP) MAY SEEM, TO ANONYMOUSLY CALL POLICE AT 919 OR CRIME STOPPERS AT 328-TIPS (8477) (NEW PROVIDENCE) OR 1-242-300-8477 (FAMILY ISLANDS).

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
