Nassau police investigate overnight armed robberies and suspicious deaths - Shooting incident

POLICE INVESTIGATES OVERNIGHT ARMED ROBBERIES –NEW PROVIDENCE

Nassau, Bahamas - In the first incident, according to reports, shortly before 9:00pm, Sunday, 16th September, 2018 two men armed with firearms, entered a pharmacy located near Baillou Hill Road and Carmichael Road, held an employee at bay and robbed the establishment of cash, before making good their escape into a nearby residential community.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, a silver Nissan vehicle pulled up to the service window of a fast food restaurant on Princes Charles Drive. The Driver produced a shot gun, held an employee at bay and robbed the establishment of cash before speeding away.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SUSPICIOUS DEATHS

Police on New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two persons, Sunday, 16th September, 2018.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00am, Police were called to a bushy area off the Eastwest Highway, where the skeletal remains of a human were found. Police will await an autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death. 

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 5:00pm, Police officers were called to a home on Bailey Drive, Coral Harbour, where the body of an elderly male was found with visible injuries. Paramedics were called to the scene but were unable to revive the male, who was later pronounced dead. 

Investigations into both matters are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Sunday, 16th September, 2018 which left two adult male with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 5:00pm, a group of men were sitting in a vacant lot at the junction of Blueberry Hill Road and Armbrister Street, when a silver Toyota Paso vehicle pulled up. The occupants of the rear seat produced a firearm and opened fire in the direction of the men, hitting two of them before speeding away.  The injured men were transported to hospital and are listed in stable condition. 

Investigations are ongoing.

MURDER SUSPECT TO BE ARRAIGNED

Police are pleased to announce that an adult male will be arraigned in Magistrate Court at 1:00pm on Monday, 17th September, 2018 in connection with a murder investigation. 

A 48 year old male will be arraigned on a charge of murder, in connection with the death of Police Inspector Carlis Blatch, who was killed on Wednesday, 12th September, 2018, while at Dolphin Drive.
