RBPF Nassau: Police investigates shooting incident - Armed robbery

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT
Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Monday, 26th November, 2018, which left an adult male with injuries.
According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, a male was walking in the area of Commonwealth Boulevard and Malaysia Way, Elizabeth Estate, when a dark colour vehicle pulled next to him and occupants opened fire in his direction hitting him, before speeding away. The injured male was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY
Police on the Island of New Providence are searching for a male responsible for an armed robbery which occurred Monday, 26th November, 2018.
According to reports, shortly after 5:00pm, a man was sitting in a 2009 silver Nissan Note, on Collins Avenue, when he was approached by an armed man who held him at bay and robbed him of the vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing.
70 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR
Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of nineteen (19) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, damage, stealing and possession of dangerous drugs over the past 48 hours.
Additionally, 70 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
FIREARMS LICENSING OFFICE OPERATING HOURS
The Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to notify members of the public that it’s Firearms Licensing Office on University Boulevard will be open to customers from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am - 4pm. The office will be closed on weekends and Holidays.
Firearm License Holders, who have not already done so, are asked to visit the office to renew their license.
All Firearms Licenses expires as of 31st December, 2018. After 14th January, 2019 a late fee will be charged at the time of renewal.

ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
- PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPROTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
- Stay calm and don’t resist.
- Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
- Keep your hands visible at all times.
- Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
- Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
- If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
- Do not follow the robber.
- Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
