POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT
Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Tuesday 20th August, 2019, which left an adult male in hospital.
According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm a man was at a home on Commonwealth Boulevard, Elizabeth Estate, when he was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who shot multiple times about the body before running away. The injured man was transported to hospital and is presently listed in critical condition.
Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with this investigation, to contact the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY – 4 ADULT MALES
IN CUSTODY
The swift action of police on New Providence has led to four men being taken into custody and an illegal firearm recovered, as they investigate three armed robberies which occurred overnight.
In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, Tuesday 20th August, 2019 a man and woman were sitting in his Chevy Express van John F. Kennedy Drive, when they were approached by two men, one armed with a firearm, who came from a purple Nissan Cube and robbed them of cash and other items. The suspects then made good their escape in the van followed by the Nissan Cube.
A short time later, vigilant police officers were on patrol on John F. Kennedy Drive, when they spotted and stopped the van and arrested one suspect. The second assailant jumped into the nearby lake and made good his escape.
Police also recovered a .45 pistol which contained seven (7) rounds of ammunition
Investigations are ongoing.
In the second incident, shortly after 1:00am Wednesday, 21st August, 2019 a man was sitting in a black Nissan Cube in the parking lot of Fort Montague, when he was approached by two armed men who came from a silver Toyota Passo, and robbed him of cash and other items before getting into his vehicle and speeding away followed by the silver Passo.
A short time later, police while at Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, arrested three adult males and recovered the black Nissan Cube.
In the third incident, shortly before 2:00am, a man was sitting in his vehicle in front of a home on West Street, when he was approached by two men, one armed with a firearm, who robbed him of cash and a cell phone, before running away.
Investigations are ongoing.
SAFTEY TIPS FOR MOTORISTS
- Slow down and obey ALL traffic laws and speed limitsSpeed limits in
school zones is 15 MPH from 7:30am to 9:00am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm
- Be extra cautious around school crossing areas
- When driving in school zones or in neighbourhoods, watch for
children who may be in a hurry to get to school and may not be thinking
of their safety
- Watch for children walking in the street, especially where there are no sidewalks. Be alert and ready to stop.
- Always stop for a school bus or jitney that has to stop to load or unload passengers.
- Before entering a pedestrian crossing area, be sure there are no children in the lane or adjacent lanes.
- When passing a parked vehicle, check for children who may run into the street
- Allow children waiting at a pedestrian crossing to cross the street

- Find an easy way to walk to and from school or the bus stop and use
the same route every day.Always walk with a brother, sister, neighbour
or friend or with other students. Strength is in numbers.
- Don’t talk to strangers, don’t go anywhere with them or take
anything from them. If a stranger approaches, tell your parents or a
trusted adult such as a teacher.
- Never get into a vehicle with a stranger, or with anyone without your parents’ permission.
- Look both ways before crossing the street.
- Never run into the street from between parked cars.
- Know you parents full name, your parents telephone numbers and your
address (street name and house number). If you have trouble remembering
them, write them down and keep in a safe place.
