POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT, 1 MALE IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are investigating a shooting incident Monday, 9th April, 2018 which has left an adult male with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, a man had just arrived at his residence on Ragged Island Street, when he was approached by a male armed with a firearm, who shot him before running away. The victim was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition. 

A short time later, police took an adult male into custody in connection with this incident.

Investigations are ongoing.  

57 TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 48 HOUR PERIOD   

Mobile Division targeted patrols intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of nineteen (19) persons during the past 48 hours for armed robbery, possession of dangerous drugs, assault and outstanding court warrants.  

Additionally, fifty-seven (57) drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.

HOLIDAY SAFETY DRIVING TIPS –Obey all traffic laws

  • Don’t drink, text or utilize anything that will distract you while driving.
  • Obey the speed limits and traffic signal lights
  • Be alert and ready to stop. Look out for people walking on the street, especially where there are no sidewalks.
  • Be extra cautious around pedestrian crossing, slow down and watch out for children on the streets.
  • Do not overtake, stay in your lane.
  • Remember to slow down and drive for both you and others.
