RBPF Nassau: Police investigates shooting, armed robbery and stabbing incidents

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident Sunday, 17th June 2018, which left an adult male with injuries.

Shortly before 9:00pm, two men were sitting in front of a yard, on Daisy Lane off Beaumontia Avenue, Garden Hills, when they were approached by a man armed with a firearm, who opened fire on them, hitting one of them before running away. The injured man was transported to hospital and is listed in serious condition. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY AND STABBING INCIDENT

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating an armed robbery and stabbing incident which left an adult male with injuries, Sunday, 17th June, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, a man was waking on Step Street, Fox Hill, when he was approached by two men, one armed with a knife, who robbed him of his jewelry before stabbing him and running away. He was transported to hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition. 

Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL AMMUNITION AND DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED , 3 MALES IN CUSTODY

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force has led to a quantity of ammunition and dangerous drugs being recovered from the streets of New Providence, Sunday, 17th June, 2018.

Shortly after 5:00pm on Sunday, 17th June, 2018, officers from operational unit “Clamp Down” acting on information, conducted a search of a home and property at Penny Savings Bank Lane off Wulff Road and recovered 37 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana.
Three adult males were taken into custody in in connection with this recovery and are expected to be formally charged later this week.

 ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACEDStay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel. Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition.
