RBPF Nassau: Police investigate suspicious death - Two illegal firearms recovered

POLICE INVESTIGATES SUSPICIOUS DEATHS

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a person, Tuesday, 25th December, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, Police were called to a bushy area off the East west Highway, where the skeletal remains of a human were found. Police will await an autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police have recovered two illegal firearms from the streets of
New Providence in two separate incidents, Wednesday, 26th
December, 2018.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 3:00am, Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers acting on information conducted a search of a parking lot of a night club at St. Albans Drive and recovered a .380 Pistol. No arrest was made in this incident.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 4:00am, Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers while on mobile patrol on Lexington Avenue, observed a male standing on the side on the street. The man, upon seeing the officers began acting in a suspicious manner, threw an object to the ground and ran, making good his escape. Officers conducted a search of the arear and recovered a .762 rifle and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing.

  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPORTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
