Nassau police investigating the country’s latest homicide - Armed robbery

POLICE INVESTIGATES THE COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDE.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident which has left an adult male dead Friday, 9th November, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, Police responded to a report of gun shots being fired in the area of Coopers Terrace off Kemp Road. Officers discovered the body of a male lying in the street, with injuries. Paramedics were called to the scene, attempted to revive the male, but were unsuccessful. He was later pronounced dead.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident, to anonymously call police at 919/911, crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991/2 or the nearest Police Station.  All information will be held in the strictest of confidence. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATE RECENT ARMED ROBBERY

Police on New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in solving an armed robbery which occurred overnight.

According to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Friday, 9th November, 2018, a male arrived at a residence on Court Street off Beatrice Avenue, when he was approached by three men, one armed with a sharp object, who robbed him of a red 2015 Yamaha scooter, license # 1138. Two of the men drove away in a blue Nissan Note, while the third man sped off on the scooter.

Investigations are ongoing.

26 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE
DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 24 HOUR   

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of ten (10) persons for outstanding criminal warrant and house breaking, over the past 24 hours. 

Additionally, 26 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.

SAFETY DRIVING TIPS – Obey all traffic laws

  • Don’t drink, text or utilize anything that will distract you while driving.Obey the speed limits and traffic signal lights
  • Be alert and ready to stop. Look out for people walking on the street, especially where there are no sidewalks.
  • Be extra cautious around pedestrian crossing, slow down and watch out for children on the streets.
  • Do not overtake, stay in your lane.
  • Remember to slow down and drive for both you and others.
