RBPF Nassau: Police investigates the country’s latest homicide - Illegal firearms recovered

POLICE INVESTIGATES THE COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDE.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a stabbing incident which has left an adult male dead and a female with injuries.

According to report, shortly after 8:00am Tuesday, October 30, 2018 Police responded to Okra Hill off Shirley Street after receiving information of a female in distress. Upon arrival, officers discovered the female with injuries to her body.

Officers acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area at the rear of an abandon building and discovered the body of an adult male, partly wrapped in a sheet with trauma to his body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The female was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition. 

A short time later, police took an adult male into custody in connection with this incident.
Investigations are ongoing. 

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, along with the support from members of the public, has led to officers successfully recovering two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence, Tuesday, 30th October, 2018, in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly after 7:00am, South Western Division Officers, acting on information conducted a search of an abandon building on Carmichael Road and recovered a .45 pistol. 

In the second incident, shortly after 8:00am, Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers acting on information conducted a search of a track road off Dorsett Street, Fox Hill and recovered an illegal rifle and 29 rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.
