RBPF Nassau: Police investigates traffic fatality - Illegal firearm seized, 4 men in custody

POLICE INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police in New Providence are investigating a traffic accident that has left two males dead on Sunday 3rd December, 2017.  According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, police were called to a traffic accident that had occurred on Corridor #7 in the area of the Government High School, involving a black 2007 Honda car and a black motor cycle. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The driver of the motor cycle and his passenger were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the car was not injured, he remained on the scene and is assisting police with this investigation.   Officers from the RBPF Traffic Division are investigating.   

  ILLEGAL FIREARM SEIZED, FOUR MEN IN CUSTODY

Police in New Providence arrested four (4) males for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition on Monday 4th December, 2017. 

Reports are that shortly after 2:00am, Central Division Officers were on patrol on East Bay Street when they observed four men standing in a parking lot acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search and found a Taurus 9mm firearm and twelve (12) rounds of ammunition. The men were subsequently taken into custody.  

Investigations are ongoing.  

FIREARMS LICENSING OFFICE NEW OPERATING HOURS

The Royal Bahamas Police Force Firearms Licensing Office on Thompson Boulevard will be open to customers from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am - 4pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm until further notice. The office will be closed on Sundays and Holidays.  

Members of the Public who have not already done so, are asked to visit the office on University Boulevard to renew their license. 

All Firearms Licenses expires as of 31st December, 2017. After this date, a late fee will be charged at the time of renewal.
