 POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN TWO OVERNIGHT SHOOTINGS AND ARMED ROBBERY
Nassau, Bahamas - Police are asking members of the public to come forth with any information they may have in solving two separate overnight shootings and an armed robbery that has left two men detained in hospital.
In the first incident, shortly after 11:00pm on Tuesday 17th May 2017, a man was walking on Rodgers Lane in Bain Town, when a man armed with a handgun approached on a motorcycle and shot him before speeding off. The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.
Then shortly after shortly after 11:30pm on Tuesday 17th May 2017, a man was walking on Sutton Street off Kemp Road, when a man armed with a handgun approached in a light blue Honda Fit vehicle and shot him before speeding off. The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
In the final incident, shortly after 2:00am on Wednesday 18th may 2017, two security officers were on duty at a business establishment located on Wulff Road, when several armed men approached and tied then up. The men then forced their way into the business establishment and stole a safe and several cash registers before fleeing in a small white flat bed truck belonging to the business establishment.
Investigations are ongoing.
22 ARRESTED AND 267 DRIVERS CITED AS POLICE ISLANDWIDE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION HEATS UP
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, large teams of police officers continued their intensified anti-crime operations in several policing divisions across New Providence on Wednesday 17th May 2017.
Yesterday’s operations was designed to disrupt crime groups and to target persons involved in criminal activities, such as Drugs and Firearms, Persons wanted for various criminal offences, Prolific Offenders, Persons wanted for Outstanding Court Warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.
The operations resulted in the arrest of 22 persons for a number of Criminal offences, and Traffic offences; and outstanding Court Warrants
Additionally, 267 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
