POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING ARMED ROBBERIES
Nassau, Bahamas - Police are asking members of the public, to come forth with any information they may have in solving two armed robberies, which occurred Friday, 31st August, 2018.
In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 5:00pm, a female stopped on Sea Breeze Lane to assist a woman who appeared to have been known to her, when she was approached by a male armed with a firearm who robbed her of cash, before getting into a silver vehicle and speeding away. The female got into a black vehicle and also sped away.
In a second incident, according to reports, shortly after 11:00pm, a male was about to enter his home on Tarpon Drive, South Beach, when he was approached by four males, one armed with a shotgun, who robbed him of a cell phone, before two of the male got onto two of his motorbikes and sped away. The other two suspects got into a Honda fit and made good their escape.
Investigations are ongoing.
ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED
The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force in partnership with members of the public, has led to two illegal firearms being recovered from the streets of New Providence, in two separate incidents, Friday, 31st August, 2018.
In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Drug Enforcement Officers, acting on information, went to Ameryllius Avenue, Garden Hills, where they conducted a search of a building on a park and recovered a .9 millimeter pistol and three (3) rounds of ammunition.
In the second incident, according to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, Southeastern Division Officers acting on information, went to Daisy Lane, Garden Hills, conducted a search of a property and recovered a .38 Revolver.
No arrests were made in these matter. Investigations are ongoing.

SAFTEY TIPS FOR MOTORISTS –
Slow down and obey ALL traffic laws and speed limits
Speed limits in school zones is 15 MPH from 7:30am to 9:00am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm
Be extra cautious around school crossing areas
When driving in school zones or in neighbourhoods, watch for children who may be in a hurry to get to school and may not be thinking of their safety
Watch for children walking in the street, especially where there are no sidewalks. Be alert and ready to stop.
Always stop for a school bus or jitney that has to stop to load or unload passengers.
Before entering a pedestrian crossing area, be sure there are no children in the lane or adjacent lanes.
When passing a parked vehicle, check for children who may run into the street
Allow children waiting at a pedestrian crossing to cross the street
