RBPF Nassau: Police seek public’s help in solving country’s latest homicide

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING COUNTRY’S
LATEST HOMICIDE.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident, which has left one male dead and another with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, Friday, 13th July, 2018, a male was walking on the eastern side of the clinic on Baillou Hill Road, when he saw a male being chased by a group of men, who shot both him and the male before running away.  Emergency Medical Services Personnel were called to the scene and attempted to revive one of the injured victims, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on scene. The second victim was transported to hospital, treated for a minor injurie and discharged.

Police have taken three males into custody in connection with this incident.
Investigations are ongoing.

17 ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 48 HOURS PERIOD 

Mobile Division targeted patrols, intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activity, have resulted in the arrest of thirteen (13) persons during the past 48 hours for possession of dangerous drugs, stealing, disorderly behaviour and outstanding court warrants.

Additionally twenty-nine (29) drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.

SUMMER SAFETY SWIMMING TIPS-

  • Never leave children alone in or near water, including beaches,pools, bathtubs, sinks or toilets.
  • Ensure that children swim in designated swimming areas while at the beach or pool. Always check the depth of the water before diving. If swimming in the ocean, check the current and under-tow.
  • Be sure that every child wears fitting life jacket when on a boat or near water.
  • Teach children how to swim. Get professional training, but never rely solely on the swimming lessons to protect your child from drowning.
  • Learn first-aid and CPR, especially infant CPR.
