RBPF Nassau: Police seek public’s help in solving country’s latest homicides & Solving armed robbery

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING COUNTRY’S LATEST HOMICIDES.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating two shooting incidents, overnight, which has left two men dead. 

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00pm, Saturday, 16th June, 2018, a male employee was in a clothing store on Faith Avenue and St. Vincent Road when a man armed with a firearm entered. A struggle ensured between the gunman and the employee, resulting in the gunman shooting the employee before escaping from the store. Emergency Medical Services Personnel were called to the scene and attempted to revive the victim, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on scene.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly before 1:00am, Sunday, 17th June, 2018, a male was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of a strip mall at West Bay Street, when he was approached by a man armed with a firearm, who shot him before escaping on foot. Paramedics attended to the victim; however, they were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigations are ongoing into both matters.

Police are appealing to members of the public, especially those who were in the area, during the time of these incidents, to come forth with any information they may have that can assist with these investigations. 

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING ARMED ROBBERY


Police are asking members of the public, to come forth with any information they may have in solving an armed robbery, which occurred Sunday, 17th June, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am a woman was driving her Nissan X-Trail jeep on Geranium Avenue, Garden Hills #1, when a small silver car pulled in front of her vehicle causing her to stop. A male passenger came from this vehicle, armed with a firearm, forced her out of her vehicle, before getting into it and speeding off behind the small silver car. 

Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL FIREARM AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED

According to reports, shortly after 4:00pm, on Saturday, 16th June, 2018, Anti-Gang
and Firearms Officers, were on patrol near the community park in Hope Gardens, when they observed a male acting in a suspicious manner. Upon seeing the officers, the male jumped over a wall and made good his escape from the area. A subsequent search was conducted of the area where the male was standing, resulted in the recovery of a .45 pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this incident.  Investigations are ongoing

19 DRIVERS TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 24 HOUR  

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of 3 persons for outstanding criminal warrants, assault, house breaking and stealing, over the past 48 hours. 

Additionally, 19 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations
