RBPF Nassau: 2 arrested for drug possession - 2 firearms recovered - 10 other arrests

Nassau, Bahamas - 2 ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION BY SOUTHEASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS

A 28 – year old man and a 27 – year old woman are in custody after they were arrested for a quantity of dangerous drugs on Wednesday 21st January 2015.

According to reports, around 12:00noon, a team of officers from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at the home of the suspects located at Bishop Way, Windsor Way, where they found a quantity of marijuana in their possession. The suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to the drug find.

2 FIREARMS RECOVERED IN SEPARATE POLICE OPERATIONS

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, police recovered two firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate police operations.

The first recovery occurred shortly after 1:00pm on Wednesday 21st January 2015, when a police operation team from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to Turtle Drive, where they uncovered a handgun.

The second recovery occurred shortly before 10:00am on Thursday 22nd January 2015, when a police operation team from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence conducted a search of an abandoned building at Jumbey Street, Pinewood Gardens, where they uncovered a handgun.

10 ARRESTED DURING POLICE ANT-CRIME OPERATION

POLICE are reporting the arrest of 10 persons for possession of dangerous drugs and outstanding court warrants as their anti-crime operation continued last night.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, such as drugs and firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences, prolific offenders and persons wanted for outstanding criminal warrants.

The operation was under the command of Superintendents Clayton Fernander and Theophilus Cunningham
