Nassau police catch suspects stripping stolen car - Shooting on Shirley St. - Firearm and drugs seized

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT IN SHOOTING INCIDENT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a shooting incident that has left a man detained in hospital on Tuesday 18th May 2016.

Reports are, that shortly after 9:00am, a man was about to enter his business establishment located on Shirley Street, when a masked man armed with a handgun approached and demanded cash. The victim ran into the building and was shot by the gunman who fled on foot. The victim was rushed to hospital where his condition is listed as stable.

FIREARM AND DRUGS SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were conducting an operation in Jones Heights around 2:30pm on Wednesday 18th May 2016, when they observed several males standing in an abandoned house acting suspiciously. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the males. The officers then conducted a search of the abandoned building where they uncovered a 9 – millimeter handgun along with a quantity of marijuana.

SUSPECTS CAUGHT RED-HANDED STRIPPING STOLEN CAR

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Southeastern Division arrested three males they caught red-handed stripping a stolen car on Wednesday 18th May 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Southeastern Division received a report of suspicious men around a silver Honda vehicle in an area off Soldier Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they met six males stripping the vehicle. The males on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers gave chase and arrested three of the males.

The car that was being stripped was stolen from in front of a home in Garden Hills #2, earlier that morning.
