1 man dead after being shot outside Nassau nightclub - 2 Males arrested for Drug Possession - 8 arrested - Seize illegal firearm

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN ARMED ROBBERY AND SHOOTING DEATH

Nassau, Bahamas - In the first incident, shortly after 1:00pm on Friday 18th September 2015, a man armed with a handgun entered a business establishment located on Shirley Street and Kemp Road, where he robbed female employee of her handbag before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly after 4:00am on Saturday 19th September 2015, a man was standing in the parking lot of a night club located on Madeira Street, when the occupants of a blue Honda vehicle pulled up and shot him before speeding off. The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.


2 MALES ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

According to reports, shortly before 11:00am on Friday 18th September 2015, officers from the Police Traffic Department were on patrol in the area of Andros Avenue and Smiths Lane, when they conducted a search of two suspicious males. During the search the officers found a quantity of marijuana. The two males ages 26 and 19 years were taken into custody for questioning.

8 ARRESTED BY POLICE SPECIAL OPERATION TEAM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, a special police operations team conducted an operation throughout the streets of New Providence on Friday 18th September 2015, that resulted in the arrest of 8 persons for various offences such as, fraud, stolen vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs and stealing.

POLICE SEIZE ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIREARM

According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm on Friday 18th September 2015, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit, acting on information went to a bushy area off East Bay Street, where they uncovered a pistol along with 6 rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested for this discovery.
