Nassau police search for McCullough Corner shooting death suspects - Armed robbery suspects sought - 18 arrested; 45 drivers cited

 POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN MCCULLOUGH CORNER SHOOTING DEATH
Nassau, Bahamas - According
to reports, around 2:30am on Friday 11th September 2015, a man was
driving a Toyota Corolla vehicle through McCullough Corner, when he was
stopped by a group of men. Shots were fired into his vehicle and the man
was struck to the shoulder as he attempted to drive off. The man then
collided into a wall at the junction of West Avenue, where he succumbed
to his injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT IN ARMED ROBBERY
According
to reports, around 2:30am on Friday 11th September 2015, two women were
walking in the area of a nightclub on Faith Avenue, when a man armed
with a handgun approached in a Honda vehicle and robbed them of cash and
a cell phone before speeding off.
Investigations are ongoing.
18 ARRESTED DURING POLICE ISLAND-WIDE OPERATION
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2015, police intensified their island-wide anti-crime operation on Thursday 10th September 2015 with large contingents of police officers fan out across New Providence.
The police anti-crime operation is aimed at suppressing crime in a number of areas and to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them, thoroughly investigate the offences they commit, and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice.
The operation resulted in 18 persons being arrested for a number of serious offences such as murder, armed robbery, firearms and dangerous drugs.
POLICE CREDITS THE SUCCESS OF THEIR ONGOING MAJOR ASSAULT ON CRIME TO EXCELLENT TEAM-WORK, INTELLIGENCE LED POLICING, PRECISE EXECUTION OF ITS 2015 POLICING PLAN AND SUPPORT FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
45 DRIVERS CITED DURING POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT OPERATION
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2015 a team of officers from the Police Traffic Department conducted an operation throughout New Providence, on Thursday 10th September 2015 that targeted Traffic Violators.
The operation resulted in 45 Drivers being cited for various Traffic Violations.
Police are reminding members the public to adhere to the rules governing the usage of our roadways. Police also warned that officers of the Traffic Division and by extension the Royal Bahamas Police Force are taking a zero tolerance approach in enforcing the rules of the road.

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP – BUSINESS OWNERS
• Keep doors and windows clear of signs and posters to allow good two-way visibility.
• Use video surveillance and make it well known.
• Make bank deposits at least once a day.
• Place a surveillance camera behind the cash register facing the front counter.
• Install an emergency (panic) alarm.
• Make your sales counter clearly visible to observers.
• A clean environment is good for business and uncomfortable for robbers.
• Keep your business well-lit inside and outside
