RBPF Nassau: Searching for suspects in shooting death - 2 Armed robberies & 2 Shootings

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN SHOOTING DEATH – SUSPECTED ARRESTED FOR LOADED HANDGUN

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 11:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, police received a report of gunshots being discharged at Shady Tree Lane off Mackey Street. When police arrived in the area they observed a male acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a loaded 9 - millimeter pistol in his waist. The suspect was taken into custody.

On making further checks the area police found a male lying on the ground with multiple gunshots to the body. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Police then learnt that another male and a female was also shot and transported to hospital, where the male condition is serious and the female remains in stable condition.

Preliminary reports are, that a group of persons were attending a ‘wake’ at Shady Tree Lane, when a fight broke out resulting in the exchange of gunfire.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN TWO ARMED ROBBERIES

In the first incident, shortly after 5:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, a man armed with a handgun robbed a business establishment located at Joe Farrington Road of a small amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly before 11:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, a man was walking on Hampshire Street, when a man armed with a handgun approached in a dark Honda vehicle and robbed him of a cell phone before speeding off.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN TWO SHOOTINGS

In the first incident, shortly after 7:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, police received a report that a man was shot multiple times about the body at Malcolm Road. The victim transported to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

In the second incident, shortly before 10:00pm on Friday 11th September 2015, a man was at Derby Road,

Yellow Elder Gardens, when a man armed with a handgun approached and shot him in the shoulder. A struggle ensued resulted in the suspect dropping a magazine containing 5 live rounds of ammunition before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing.

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP – Business owners

Keep doors and windows clear of signs and posters to allow good two-way visibility.

• Use video surveillance and make it well known.

• Make bank deposits at least once a day.

• Place a surveillance camera behind the cash register facing the front counter.

• Install an emergency (panic) alarm.

• Make your sales counter clearly visible to observers.

• A clean environment is good for business and uncomfortable for robbers.

• Keep your business well-lit inside and outside
