Nassau police investigate 3 overnight shootings, 1 suspect in hospital - Illegal handgun seized

FTIU OFFICERS SEIZE ILLEGAL HANDGUN

Reports are that shortly after 12:30am on Friday 17th July 2015, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigation (FTIU) acting on intelligence went to Cowpen and Spikenard Road, where they uncovered a 9 - millimeter pistol. No one was arrested for this discovery.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN THREE OVERNIGHT SHOOTINGS, ONE SUSPECT DETAINED IN HOSPITAL

In the first incident, around 10:30pm on Thursday 16th July 2015, two males were sitting on a porch at a home located on Peach Street, when a champagne coloured Nissan Note vehicle pulled up with three men who fired several shots at them before speeding off. One of the males was shot to the left thigh and the other was shot to the left leg. The two victims were transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
A few minutes later, police were in the area of Arawak Avenue and Campbell Street searching for the suspects involved in the shooting, when they saw two males fitting the description of the two suspects running in the area. One of the males on seeing the police seeing the police turned towards the police vehicle and fired several shots. The officers returned fire hitting one of the males who fell to the ground. However, the other male was able to elude the officers. The suspect was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

In the second incident, shortly after 11:00pm on Thursday 16th July 2015, a man was playing a game of checkers along with two other men on the porch of a home located at Whites Lane off Cordeaux Avenue, when two masked men armed with a handgun attempted to rob them. The victim attempted to run and was shot in the buttocks. The suspects then fled on foot. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

In the final incident, shortly after 12:00midnight on Friday 17th July 2015, a man was parked in his white Honda Civic vehicle north on Thompson Boulevard, when two masked men armed with a handgun approached his vehicle and fired several shots at him before fleeing on foot. The victim was shot to the right back and left leg. The victim was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Police are actively investigating all of these incidents and are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding these incidents, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) OR 1-242- 300-8476 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
