RBPF Nassau: 3 firearms seized, 2 males arrested - Woman robbed at home on Allen Drive

POLICE SEIZED THREE ILLEGAL FIREARMS, TWO MALES IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Police conducted several operations in New Providence over the past 24 hours that resulted in the recovery of three (3) illegal firearms and the arrest of two persons.

In the first incident, shortly after 12:00noon yesterday, officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to a track road off Farrington Road, where they uncovered a .40 pistol. No one was arrested for this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly before 2:00am this morning, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to a nightclub located on Fox Hill Road, where they conducted a search of a 34 – year old man from Grand Bahama and found a .40 pistol along with 10 live rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

In the third incident, shortly after 3:00am this morning officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to a nightclub located at St. Albans Drive, where they conducted a search of a 37 – year old man of Quaker Street and found a .45 pistol along with 17 live rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR AN ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

Police are searching for a suspect responsible for an armed robbery last night and are appealing to members of the public to come forth with any information they might have.

According to reports, shortly after 9:30pm, a woman had just arrived at her home located at Allen Drive off Carmichael Road, when a man armed with a handgun robbed her of her handbag containing a cell phone and cash before speeding off in a black Honda vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing into this incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding these latest incidents, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) OR 1-242-300-8476 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
