RBPF Nassau: Man robbed of gray Dodge Ram truck - 3 illegal firearms seized - 7 arrested during 24 hr period

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING AN ARMED ROBBERY

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm on Wednesday 12th November 2014, a man was standing in front of his residence located at Thompson Drive off Fox Hill Road, when two men armed with a handgun robbed him of his gray Dodge Ram truck and sped off.

Investigations are ongoing.

3 ILLEGAL FIREARMS SEIZED

In the first incident, shortly before 9:00pm on Wednesday 12th November 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to Williams Street off Kemp Road where they uncovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition underneath a garbage container. No one was arrested for this discovery.

In the second incident, shortly after 11:00pm on Wednesday 12th November 2014, officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on intelligence went to a park in Nassau Village, where they uncovered a handgun. No one was arrested for this discovery.

In the third incident, shortly before 2:00am on Thursday 13th November 2014, officers from the Drug Enforecment Unit acting on intelligence went to Klonaris Drive off Soldier Road, where they uncovered a handgun underneath a trailer. No one was arrested for this discovery.

7 ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 24 HOURS PERIOD

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Mobile Division saturation patrols intended to reduce crime and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities resulted in the arrest of seven (7) persons during the past 24 hours for various criminal offences.

WHILE WALKING
• Don’t make yourself a likely target
• Don’t wear excessive jewelry
• Don’t let your purse dangle from your arm
• Don’t walk alone in dark areas
• Walk with confidence and a sense of purpose-don’t be tentative
• Be aware of your surroundings and know what’s going on around you
• If you think you’re being followed by someone on foot: cross the street, change direction, vary your pace. If he/she persists, go to an open store or public place and call police
• If you think you're being followed by someone in a car - turn around and walk in the other direction. Go up a one-way street. If he/she persists, record the license number and call police.
