RBPF Nassau: Structural fire investigation - 30 persons arrested and 81 fixed penalty notices

STRUCTURAL FIRE INVESTIGATION

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating a fire which destroyed home, Saturday, 16th November, 2019.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, Fire Service Officers responded to a call of a building fire at Tucker Road, Big Pond Sub-Division. Upon their arrival, officers met a home fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished, however; the home was completely destroyed. There were no injuries reported during this incident.

Fire Services Officers will continue investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

30 PERSONS ARRESTED AND 81 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES
ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE DIVISION AND OPERATION
OFFICERS IN PAST 24 HOUR 

Officers from the Mobile Division Officers and Operation Officers conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of thirty (30) persons as follows:
Twenty-two (22) persons for outstanding criminal warrants,
Three (3) arrested for possession of illegal firearm
Four (4) arrested for Armed Robbery and possession of illegal firearm
One (1) person arrested for stealing
Additionally, 81 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations, 92 vehicles searched and search warrants were executed on six homes.


ARMED ROBBERY SAFETY TIPS –
  • PERSONNEL SAFETY FIRST! MONEY AND MERCHANDISE ARE NOT IMPROTANT AND CAN BE REPLACED
  • Stay calm and don’t resist.
  • Do as instructed and don’t make sudden moves.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
  • Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
  • If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
  • Do not follow the robber.
  • Install surveillance cameras and ensure that they are in working condition
