RBPF Nassau: Armed robbery, housebreaking & drug arrests - 31 drivers cited - Firearm & drugs recovered

SUSPECT ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS SHORTLY AFTER ARMED ROBBERY

Nassau, Bahamas - Quick action by police has led to the arrest of a 34 – year old man of South Beach only minutes after he committed an armed robbery on Thursday 3rd July 2014.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, police received a report that a restaurant located on Arundel Street and Mt. Royal Avenue was held up and robbed by a lone gunman.

Police responded and received a description of the suspect.

A short while later, Mobile Division Officers arrested the suspect fitting the description given, in the nearby area. Police also recovered from the suspect cash and personal items taken during the armed robbery.

The suspect is currently being questioned by Central Detective Unit officers regarding this, and other arm robberies.

WOMAN ARRESTED BY EASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS FOR HOUSE BREAKING

A 27 – year old woman of Garden Hills is in custody after she was arrested on Thursday 3rd July 2014 in connection with several housebreakings in the eastern area of New Providence.

According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm, Eastern Division officers acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at the woman’s Lady Slipper Drive home located in Garden Hills, where they uncovered a large amount of electronic appliances and jewelry suspected of being stolen from several homes in the eastern area. The woman was taken into custody and is being quizzed by police in connection with a number of house breakings.

NORTHEASTERN DIVISION OFFICERS NAB MAN FOR DRUG POSSESSION

A 58 – year old man is in custody after he was arrested for drug possession on Thursday 3rd July 2014.

According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm, Northeastern Division officers on patrol on Peach Street arrested and took the suspect into custody after they found him in possession of a quantity of marijuana packaged for sale on the streets of New Providence. The officers also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash found on the suspect believed to be the proceeds of crime.

31 DRIVERS CITED DURING WESTERN DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2014, Western Division officers conducted a police operation in the Division on Thursday 3rd July 2014, that targeted motorists who were in breach of the rules of the road.

The operation resulted in 31 drivers being cited for various traffic infractions and the arrest of two persons for Outstanding Court Warrants and one person for Breach of the Immigration Act.

MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS RECOVER FIREARM AND DRUGS

According to reports, around 2:30pm on Thursday 3rd July 2014, Officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence went to Church Hill Subdivision, where they uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of marijuana near an unoccupied building.
No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.
