Suspect shot by police in Nassau - Robbers pose as BEC workers

SUSPECT SHOT BY POLICE

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 11:00am on Thursday 16th April 2015, police were on patrol, when they observed two male occupants driving a green 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer vehicle in a dangerous manner west on Carmichael Road near Faith Avenue. The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the occupants sped off at a high rate of speed. A chase ensued that ended up at Golden Isles Road where the vehicle slowed down and the passenger pointed a handgun at the police. The officers in fear of their lives fired at the suspects. The suspects sped off in the area of Excellence Estates, where the vehicle came to a stop. Police arrested the driver in the vehicle, but the suspect with the firearm ran into nearby bushes and was shot in the thigh and eventually arrested. The two suspects ages 26 and 21 years are in custody for firearm possession.

The injured suspect was transported to hospital, where he remains under heavy police guard in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEEK HELP IN SOLVING AN ARMED ROBBERY

According to reports, shortly after 12:30pm on Thursday 16th April 2015, a woman was at her Constitution Drive home, when two men armed with a handgun posing as BEC workers, robbed her of a small amount of cash and a set of keys before fleeing on foot. Investigations are ongoing.
