RBPF Nassau: Woman robbed outside her home - 9 robbery-related arrests

SUSPECTS IN EARLY MORNING ARMED ROBBERY ARRESTED BY FLYING SQUAD

Nassau, Bahamas - Shortly before 1:00am on Saturday 15th August 2015, a woman was sitting in a vehicle outside of a home located at Marine Drive, when two males armed with a handgun robbed her of a cell phone. The two males fled the scene in a black 2002 Honda Accord.

Around 3:30am, a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on information executed a search warrant at a home located at Iguana Way, where they uncovered the cell phone taken during the armed robbery. Two juvenile males were taken into custody for questioning reference this incident. The two juvenile males are also being questioned in connection with a number of other armed robberies.

9 ARRESTED BY FLYING SQUAD IN CONNECTION WITH SEVERAL ARMED ROBBERIES

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, police took into custody nine (9) persons for questioning reference to a number of armed robberies on Saturday 15th August 2015.

According to reports, around 6:30am, a team of officers from the Flying Squad, acting on intelligence went to a home located at Lazaretta Road, where they arrested 8 males and 1 female in connection with a number of armed robberies.

WEEKLY PREVENTION CRIME TIP - IF YOU WITNESS A CRIME

If you see or suspect a crime is being committed, pay particular attention to the features of the offender(s) and any vehicles involved. Try to be prepared to provide at least the following about the offenders:

1. Age, color, height, and weight;
2. Hair color and style, beard and mustache;
3. Notable characteristics (acne, scars, glasses, mental state, etc.)
4. Clothing description;
5. Location where last seen;
6. Last known direction of travel;
7. Vehicle description and distinctive markings.

Witnesses who wish to remain anonymous may do so. It is more important that a response be dispatched as quickly as possible.
