SUSPECTS TO BE ARRAIGNED IN COURT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are pleased to report that seven (7) suspects will appear in the Magistrate Court, Tuesday, 29th May, 2018, at 2:00pm to be formally charged with various offences.

They are:

15 year old juvenile male to be formally charged with 3 counts of Unlawful Sex.
23, 22 and 16 year old males to be formally charged with Armed Robbery.
24 year old male to be formally charged with Burglary and Armed Robbery.
34 and 36 year old males to be formally charged with Fraud by false pretenses.
Police wishes to thank members of the public for assisting with information, which has led to the arrest of suspects in these matters. We encourage members of the public to continue to partner with us as we work diligently to create safer communities.

POLICE INVESTIGATES AN ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking members of the public, to come forth with any information they may have in solving an attempted armed robbery, which occurred Monday, 28th May, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, a male armed with a firearm, entered a furniture store located in a shopping mall, on Baillou Hill Road and demanded cash. He was unsuccessful in obtaining his request, and as a result ran from the store.

Investigations are ongoing.

DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED

According to reports shortly after 10:00pm on Monday, 28th May, 2018, Anti-Gang and Firearms Officers were on routine patrol on Dorsett Alley, Fox Hill, when they observed a male acting in a suspicious manner. Upon seeing the officers, the male dropped a bag and ran from the area. Officers recovered the bag and discovered that it contained suspected marijuana.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS – CONFLICT RESOLUTION

  • Look for ways to settle arguments and disagreements without violence. Remember: if you resort to violence to settle disputes, a child may well follow your example. Be a good role model.
  • Use good manners to help ease tensions that can lead to violence. Teach kids that showing respect for themselves and for the needs of others can prevent crime.
