RBPF Nassau: Guyanese Woman nabbed at LPIA with Cocaine in her Hair - 3 handguns seized during home raid, 1 in custody

 THREE HANDGUNS SEIZED DURING RAID ON A HOME, ONE MAN IN CUSTODY
Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers took a man into custody following the seizure of three illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition; along with a quantity of cocaine and marijuana, during a raid on a home on Tuesday 23rd May 2017.
According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence executed a search warrant on a home located at Barbados Avenue, Elizabeth Estates. During the search, one .45 Springfield pistol, one .40 mini Firestorm pistol and one Glock pistol along with 25 rounds of ammunition was found. Additionally one pound of marijuana and a few grams of cocaine were seized. A male resident of the home was taken into custody in connection with the find.
GUYANESE WOMAN NABBED AT LPIA WITH COCAINE IN HER HAIR
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, alert Drug Enforcement Unit officers took a Guyanese woman into custody following the seizure of a quantity of cocaine on Tuesday 23rd May 2017.
According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted search of a Guyanese woman passenger at the Bahamas Customs arrival area of the Lynden Pindling International Airport, who had just arrived on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Suriname. During the search, one taped package containing just over two pounds of cocaine was found concealed in a weave attached to her hair. The woman was subsequently taken into custody for this discovery.
FIREARM SEIZED
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers seized a handgun with ammunition on Monday 22nd May 2017.
According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted search of a bushy area at Jubilee Boulevard and uncovered a Taurus pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition along with a marijuana plant. No one was arrested in connection with this find.

Everyone should consider it his/her responsibility to report crime. Many criminals target favorite areas and have predictable methods of operation. When you report all the facts about a crime, it helps the police assign officers in the places where crimes are occurring or where they are most likely to occur. If you don’t report crime, this allows the criminal to continue to operate without interference.
In many cases, it is the information provided by victims and witnesses that leads to the arrest of a criminal. So tell the police as much as you can; no fact is too trivial. The police need the eyes and ears of all citizens.
