RBPF Nassau: 3 guns seized, 2 in custody - Man arrested for stolen vehicle - Drug arrest - 9 other arrests, 85 drivers cited

THREE MORE GUNS SEIZED, TWO IN CUSTODY

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police took two adult males into custody following the seizure three illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Wednesday 18th January 2017.

In the first incident, around 11:30am, Southwestern Division officers on routine mobile patrol conducted a search of a bushy area off Cowpen Road, where they uncovered an unlicensed shotgun.

Then around 12:30pm, Southwestern Division Officers on routine patrol accosted a suspicious adult male driving a Honda Civic vehicle on Cowpen Road. During a search of the vehicle the officers uncovered an unlicensed shotgun. The adult male was subsequently taken into custody.

In the final incident, shortly before 11:00pm, Mobile Division Officers on routine patrol on Palmetto Avenue observed three suspicious male standing near a home. The officers accosted the males and during a search found a 9-millimeter pistol in their possession. The three males were subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

MAN ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS FOR STOLEN VEHICLE

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Mobile Division officers took on adult male into custody after finding him in possession of a stolen vehicle on Wednesday 18th January 2017.

Reports are around 9:00pm, Mobile Division Officers were on routine patrol on Knowles Drive, Bozine Town, where they arrested an adult male driving a Honda Fit vehicle that was recently reported stolen.

MAN ARRESTED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Mobile Division officers took on adult male into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Wednesday 18th January 2017.

Reports are that shortly before 10:00pm, Mobile Division Officers on routine patrol on Nassau and South Streets accosted a man walking in the area who aroused their suspicion. A search was conducted of the man and a quantity of marijuana was found in his possession. The man was subsequently taken into custody.

9 ARRESTED AND 85 DRIVERS CITED DURING MOBILE DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from the Mobile Division conducted an operation in New Providence on Wednesday 18th January 2017 to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them, thoroughly investigate the offences they commit, and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice.

The operation resulted in 9 persons being arrested for a number of criminal offences and 85 drivers being cited for various traffic violations.
