Nassau: 3 more guns seized and several detained in islandwide anti-crime operation - Recover vehicle taken during armed robbery

THREE MORE GUNS SEIZED AND SEVERAL DETAINED IN ISLANDWIDE POLICE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting more success under their 'Anti-Crime Operation' led by officers from the Selective Enforcement Team with the arrest of 11 individuals, the seizure of three guns and a quantity of marijuana in the past 24 hours.

Reports are that between Thursday 4th February 2016 and early this morning (Friday 5th February 2016), the operations were carried out in several areas of New Providence.

Shortly after 4:30pm on Thursday the operation team took two adult males into custody after they found one pound of marijuana in their possession.

Then shortly after 11:00pm the operation team seized three 9mm pistols with 30 rounds of ammunition during an operation in Dorsette Alley off West Street. Two of the weapons were found in an abandoned building and the other was discovered behind a building. No one was arrested in connection with the seizures.

Additionally, the operation team arrested 9 other persons for questioning reference offences to include firearms and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Anyone with information that can lead to seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition or the arrest of those who breach the Firearms Act are being asked to contact the police.


POLICE RECOVER VEHICLE TAKEN DURING AND ARMED ROBBERY

According to reports on Thursday 4th February 2016 officers from the Southwestern Division went to a bushy area in Abbeys Close, where they located a Honda Inspire vehicle that was stolen during an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday 3rd February 2016. No one was arrested in this discovery.
