RBPF Nassau: Illegal firearm seized, 1 man in custody - Illegal drugs seized

ILLEGAL FIREARM SEIZED, 1 MAN IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas  - Police have removed yet another firearm off the streets of New Providence on Monday, 11th December, 2017.  Shortly after 8:00pm officers from the Mobile Division, were on routine patrol on Palm Beach Street, when they heard gun shots coming from the area of Tucker Close. The officers went to the area when they observed a group of men standing in the street. One of the men, fired several shots at the officers and fled through a track road.  After a short foot chase the officers caught the suspect and found a Smith and Wesson 9mm Pistol in his possession.

The suspect is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED

Reports are that shortly after 2:00pm on Tuesday, 12th December, 2017 a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted a search of a bushy area on Hard Rock Alley off Market Street, where they uncovered just over 36 pounds of marijuana. 

No one was arrested for this seizure.

HOLIDAY CRIME PREVENTION TIP- DO NOT WALK IN DARK ALLEYS AND STREETS WHERE ONLY A VERY FEW PEOPLE PASS BY. TAKE SECURE AND WELL-LIGHTED WALKWAYS INSTEAD. IF YOU CAN, WALK IN THE COMPANY OF OTHER PEOPLE.  

AVOID DISPLAYING AND CARRYING LARGE SUMS OF MONEY IN PUBLIC. ONLY CARRY THE CREDIT CARDS YOU NEED.
