RBPF Nassau: Police investigates apparent suicide - Illegal firearm recovered

POLICE INVESTIGATES APPARENT SUICIDE 


Nassau, Bahamas - Police are investigation the circumstances surrounding the death of an adult female whose body was discovered on Friday 10th May, 2019. 

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, police officers were called to a residence on Falcon Crest, Eastern Estate, where a female was discovered unresponsive, with visible injuries to her body. Paramedics were called to the scene, but were unable to resuscitate the woman. She was pronounced dead on the scene. 

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations are ongoing.  

ILLEGAL FIREARM RECOVERED

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm Thursday, 9th May, 2019, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on patrol on Kemp Road and Williams Lane when they observed two men standing near a track road. The men upon seeing the officers, ran from the area, making good their escape. The officers searched the area where the men were standing and recovered a .40 pistol and six (6) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

69 FIXED PENALTY NOTICES ISSUED TO DRIVERS BY MOBILE
DIVISION OFFICERS IN PAST 48 HOUR  

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of seventeen (17) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, shop breaking, damage and assault over the past hours.    

Additionally, 69 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations including 3 drivers disobeying the traffic light, 6 drivers driving an unlicensed vehicle and 2 drivers driving a vehicle with non-transparent glass.

CRIME PREVENTION TIP - CONFLICT RESOLUTION

  • Look for ways to settle arguments and disagreements without violence. Remember: if you resort to violence to settle disputes, a child may well follow your example. Be a good role model.
  • Use good manners to help ease tensions that can lead to violence. Teach kids that showing respect for themselves and for the needs of others can prevent crime.
