Nassau, Bahamas - Police on New Providence are actively searching for the men responsible for an armed robbery, which occurred on Sunday, 16th December, 2018.

According to reports, shortly before 10:00pm, a male was at a residence on Buttonwood Avenue, Pinewood Gardens, when he was approached by two armed men, who robbed him of jewelry and electronic items before running away.

Investigations are ongoing.

US CITIZEN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO DECLARE

A 36 year old male, citizen of the United States was taken into custody Sunday, 16th December, 2018, after he failed to declare a large sum of US Currency.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, the male presented themselves to a US Border Control Officer at Lynden Pindling International Airport and fail to declare the true amount of currency in his possession. The officers conducted a search of the male and recovered $72,616.00 cash.

The male was taken into custody and handed over to the Police. He is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court this week.

PAST 48 HOUR  

Officers from the Mobile Divisions conducted road checks in various parts of the island. Their efforts, which were intended to educate, reduce crime, and to minimize the ability of criminals to commit criminal activity, resulted in the arrest of twenty-five (25) persons for outstanding criminal warrants, assault, stealing and possession of dangerous drugs, over the past 48 hours. 

Additionally, 90 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations

• Get a look at the robber if possible, but don’t stare.
• Activate the alarm only when it’s safe to do so.
• If possible, get a look at the robber’s vehicle and the direction travel.
• Do not follow the robber.
