RBPF Nassau: Police operation nets 24 arrests - Illegal firearm seized, 1 male in custody

POLICE OPERATION NETS 24 ARRESTS

Nassau, Bahamas - POLICE are reporting the arrest of 24 persons in connection with a number of serious crimes such as murder, armed robbery, possession of illegal firearms and possession of dangerous drugs during an anti-crime operation dubbed, “Strong Finish” conducted throughout New Providence overnight.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2018 Policing Priority #1 Prevention and Reduction of Crime, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants.

  • 12 persons arrested in connection with homicide investigations.
  • 2 persons arrested after they were found in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine
  • 1 person for possession of illegal firearm
  • 9 persons arrested in connection with armed robbery investigations.

This operation was led by ACP Clayton Fernander, ACP Ashton Greenslade and ACP Theophilus Cunningham. The team was assisted by member of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force. 

Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL FIREARM SEIZED, 1 MALE IN CUSTODY

Shortly before 9:00am, Thursday, 13th September, 2018 Mobile Division Officers acting on information, conducted a search of the home of a male on Constitution Drive, Chippingham, and recovered an unlicensed 12 gauge shotgun. Further checks revealed that he was also in breach of his bail conditions

He was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court.
