Drugs seized by Freeport Airport Officers, 2 in custody

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, officers from the Airport Division arrested two men following the seizure of several pounds of marijuana during an operation on Friday 19th August 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 9:00am, a team of officers from the Airport Division, were conducting an operation on Coral Harbour Road, when they saw two men in a silver Saturn Sedan vehicle who arouse their suspicion. The officers beckoned to the men to stop the vehicle but they refused to do so and sped off. After a short chase the officers brought the vehicle to a stop. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and uncovered, twenty-five (25) pounds of marijuana in a suitcase. The two men were subsequently taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early next week to be formally charged.
