RBPF: Police seize handgun - 29 arrests / 78 citations in 3 operations in Nassau and Harbour Island

POLICE SEIZE ANOTHER HANDGUN

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit seized another firearm off the streets of New Providence on Saturday 14th May 2016.

Nassau, Bahamas - Reports are, that shortly after 1:00pm, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit acting on information went to and area on Rock crusher Road, where they uncovered a .40 pistol. No one was arrested in connection with this find.

29 ARRESTED AND 78 DRIVERS CITED, DURING THREE SEPARATE OPERATIONS IN NEW PROVIDENCE AND HARBOUR ISLAND

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, police conducted two operations in New Providence and one in Harbour Island on Friday 13th May 2016, to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them, thoroughly investigate the offences they commit, and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice.

The operation conducted by officers in Harbour Island resulted in 15 persons being arrested for possession of dangerous drugs and stealing.

The operation conducted by officers in the Southeastern Division resulted in 10 persons being arrested for a number of criminal offences to include murder, threats of death, stealing, house breaking and causing harm.

The final operation conducted by officers in the Mobile Division resulted in 78 drivers being cited for various traffic violations and 4 persons being arrested for outstanding court warrants and possession of dangerous drugs.
