Police searching for suspects in shooting and armed robbery

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspects responsible for a shooting armed robbery that has left a man detained in hospital on Sunday 10th September 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00am, a man was at his home located on Cowpen Road west of Faith Avenue, when five males armed with firearms approached and robbed him of cash. The man attempted to flee from his home and was shot. The suspects then fled on foot. The victim was taken to hospital where his condition is listed as stable.

Investigations are ongoing.

Suspect on bail for armed robbery found with illegal handgun


Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police Officers took into custody a man on bail for armed robbery after an illegal handgun was found in his possession on Sunday 10th September 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm, officers assigned to the Mobile Division were on routine patrol in the area of Buttonwood Avenue, when they saw a male who aroused their suspicion. The male was accosted by the officers and searched. During the search of the male a Smith and Wesson Pistol with 17 rounds of ammunition was found in his possession.

The male who is on bail for armed robbery and wearing an electronically monitoring device was subsequently arrested.

Suspect arrested for drug possession

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police took a man into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Sunday 10th September 2017.

According to reports, around 10:00am, officers assigned to the Mobile Division acting
on information conducted a search of a home of a male located at Derby Road, Yellow Elder, where they uncovered a quantity of marijuana. The male was subsequently taken into custody.

Additionally, Mobile Division officers took eleven (11) other persons into custody over the past 24 hours for firearms, murder and outstanding criminal warrants.
