Suspect shot by Nassau police, handgun and ammo recovered

Nassau, Bahamas - Reports are that shortly after 11:00pm on Friday 10th June 2016, police were on routine patrol on Wild Guava Tree Street, Pinewood Gardens, when they received information of a male suspect walking in the area armed with a handgun. A few minutes later, the officers spotted an adult male in area fitting the description of the suspect.

The suspect on seeing the officers fled on foot. The officers pursued the suspect into nearby bushes, where the suspect pulled a handgun from his waist and pointed it at the officers. The officers in fear of their lives fired at the suspect and shot him. A 9-millimeter handgun along with 7 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspect.

The suspect was transported to hospital where he is listed in stable condition under heavy police guard.
