Suspect who shot at police shot and killed after highspeed chase

Nassau, Bahamas -  Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, courageous officers from the Mobile Division shot and killed an armed suspect, took two others into custody and recovered two illegal handguns following a car chase on Tuesday 25th April 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol off Carmichael Road East, when they spotted a suspicious vehicle occupied by three men in the area. The officers ordered the vehicle to stop but the men drove off at a high rate of speed. The suspects then led the officers on a high speed chase into Pride Estates where their vehicle came to a stop after it crashed into a wall of a home.

The suspects armed with handguns then exited the vehicle and fired shots at the police. The officers returned fire hitting two of the suspects. All three suspects were immediately arrested and two 9 – millimeter handguns with several rounds of ammunition were recovered.

The two injured suspects were transported to hospital where one of them succumbed and the other remains in serious condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
