SUSPECT WHO SHOT TWO POLICE OFFICERS NOW IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police took into custody an adult male suspect responsible for a shooting incident that has left two Police Officers detained in hospital on Sunday 12th February 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 12:00midnight, a male and a female police officer responded to a domestic incident at a home located in Valentine Subdivision off Johnson Terrace. While at the home, a man arm with a shotgun approached and shot both of them. The officers returned fire but the suspect was able to flee in a vehicle. The two officers were taken to hospital where they remain in stable condition.

Shortly after 4:00am this morning Police arrested the suspect who was suffering gun shot wounds. Police also recovered a shotgun from the suspect. The suspect is detained in hospital under heavy police guard.

AMERICAN MALE AMONG FOUR IN CUSTODY FOR LARGE AMMUNITION SEIZURE DURING POLICE OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, 78 live rounds of ammunition was seized on Friday 10th February 2017, by officers from the Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit during an operation in Nassau Village.

Reports are that shortly after 5:00pm, Firearms Tracing and Investigation Unit executed a search warrant on a home located at Wilson Street, Nassau Village, where they uncovered 50 live rounds of .40 ammunition, 26 live rounds of .380 ammunition and 2 live rounds of 9 – millimeter ammunition.

An American male and a Bahamian Male along with two Bahamian females were taken into custody in connection the find.

SHOTGUN SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, a shotgun was seized on Saturday 11th February 2017, by officers from the Southwestern Division.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00pm, Southwestern Division officers acting on information went to a park in Flamingo Gardens, where they uncovered a shotgun behind a building.

No one was arrested in connection the find.
