Woman in Nassau robbed of black Dodge Calbri - 2 firearms seized, 5 in custody

TWO FIREARMS SEIZED – FIVE IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, police are reporting the arrest of five persons and the seizure of two illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents.

In the first incident shortly after 12:00am on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team uncovered a .22 rifle with 75 rounds of ammunition from behind a nightclub during an operation on Faith Avenue South.

No one was arrested in connection with the find but investigations continue.

In the second incident shortly after 10:00pm on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team assisted by CSI Officers, conducted a search of an abandoned building during an operation on Ida Street and uncovered a .45 pistol. Five adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR VEHICLE STOLEN DURING ARMED ROBBERY

Police is searching for a vehicle that was stolen during an armed robbery on Friday 11th November 2016, by a lone male suspect.

Reports are that shortly after 1:30pm, a woman was sitting in her black Dodge Calbri vehicle license number 165382 in front of a business establishment on Marathon Road, when a man armed with a sharp object approached and forced her out of her vehicle before speeding off. The vehicle contained the victim’s handbag, cell phone and cash.

Investigations are ongoing.
