POLICE SEIZE ILLEGAL GUN, ONE MAN IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police took one man into custody following the seizure of an illegal handgun on Tuesday 31st October 2017.

Reports are shortly before 11:00pm officers from the South Central Division were on routine patrol in the area of Ida Street and Balfour Avenue, when they saw a man walking who aroused their suspicion. The man was accosted, searched and a Rochester Pistol along with 7 rounds of ammunition was found in his possession. The man was subsequently taken into custody.

MAN WHO SHOT AT POLICE IN CUSTODY

Police have arrested a second man involved in an exchange of gunfire with police following a car chase on Monday 30th October 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 8:30pm on Monday, police intercepted a vehicle occupied by three males on King Street following a short chase. Two of the males exited the vehicle and open fire on police before fleeing on foot. Police returned fire but were unable to catch the two males. A third male suspect was arrested in the vehicle with a loaded handgun. The police vehicle received minor damages from gunshots during the ordeal.

The second suspect was arrested in Dignity Gardens by a police operation team shortly before 8:00pm on Tuesday 31st October 2017.

16 ARRESTED, 22 DRIVERS TICKETED BY MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS DURING 48 HOURS PERIOD

Mobile Division targeted patrols intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activities, has resulted in the arrest of twenty (16) persons during the past 48 hours for, murder, armed robbery, possession of possession dangerous drugs, stealing, armed robbery and outstanding court warrants. Additionally, 22 drivers were ticketed for various traffic violations.
