Our new site: TheBahamasWeekly.com

So what is this new site all about?

Many of you are new to this site or newsletter , and so please allow me to give a bit of history. I’d like to thank those of you that have been with us since the humble beginnings of emails from my home computer. We live in Freeport, Grand Bahama and to learn more of how Gbweekly.com got started please listen to my audio interview on http://www.mackeymedia.com/ Go to my picture and click.

Gbweekly began when the weekly newsletter, Freeport Announcements met webmaster Dave Mackey. Gbweekly is a domain name that was doing something similar back in the late 90’s, but ceased when Dave’s partner, Tim Aylen moved off island. This domain name was reactivated in early 2006, and my content was then posted by Dave in a web site format on gbweekly.com, thus doing away with emails that were far too large for some to receive and also, increasing the reach of this content to the world 24/7 on gbweekly.com. What is very cool, is that now Tim Aylen is back providing content from Nassau for TheBahamasWeekly!

The growth of Gbweekly has been phenomenal and as soon as we began gbweekly we planned ahead by reserving the domain name thebahamasweekly.com. It has been a vision of ours to connect the entire country and we felt that the best way to do this was to create this new domain name thebahamasweekly.com to give the community a positive voice and sharing with each other, and with foreigners the many wonderful reasons we live in The Bahamas.

I still sit at my home computer, but with the growth of gbweekly into thebahamasweekly Dave has had to upgrade to new website technologies that give us incredible capabilities, of which you can see (click on our new Bahamasweekly logo on our home page if you are reading this from Gbweekly - if you are reading this from thebahamasweekly, then you get it).

So much content! We now can provide daily updates. If you haven't heard from us in awhile, it is because we've been doing so much behind the scenes work. Dave has working tirelessly to make necessary changes and get us ready to restart our weekly e-newletter. But remember you can look at us any time you like! What is very cool is that Tim Aylen is back providing content from Nassau for TheBahamasWeekly!

Please bear with us as we continue with our transition. There are great plans for the future! We are sure you will like all the new improvements.

We are committed in remaining your on-line voice for community, providing a positive view on not only Grand Bahama, but now the entire Bahamas!
