Nassau, Bahamas - Two truly memorable events occurred at The Bahamas Historical Society last week.
Bahama – After more than a century of service, on January 14th the tall
ship, Alexander Von Humboldt sailed out of her homeport of Bremerhaven,
Germany for the last time and set course for the island of Grand Bahama

Freeport, Grand Bahama -
Mary, Star of the Catholic School’s campus was transformed into a
picnic park for students to enjoy lunch with their parents and
friends. An invitation was extended to Mary Star’s parents to partake
in this communal event. The student body was divided into their four
houses Brendan, Gantley, Groves and Leonard. Everyone got into the
action by sporting their house colours (blue, yellow, green and red).
Each house was allocated a portion of the campus to picnic on.

Not even in their dreams did the staff members imagine how well the
turnout of parents would have been. Scores of parents dropped in to
socialize with the mighty stingrays. Each house put a different spin
on their picnic affair. There was a potluck meal, a pizza party,
packed lunches and take out. Many brought enough to share with
others...

LEXINGTON, Ky - For Linville Johnson and other members of the NTA Faith-based Tourism Advisory Council, months of planning came to a satisfying conclusion at the association’s recent convention in Las Vegas, where more than 60 experienced tourism professionals gathered for the first-ever Faith-based Tourism Leaders Forum. It was only a beginning, though, Johnson said.

“We explored a variety of opportunities in faith tourism during the forum,” said Johnson, the director of faith-based tourism for the Islands of the Bahamas. “As exciting as the meeting at Convention was, we’re just as enthusiastic about the next phase: the NTA Faith-based Tourism Network.”

I am very pleased to be in San Salvador, one of my favorite places in The Bahamas.

Desperate to hold onto power as he counts his final weeks as
leader of The Bahamas, Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham went to San Salvador
challenging the accomplishments this MP and the PLP government.

It is painfully clear that the Prime Minister has forgotten
the state he left San Salvador back in 2001. The people of San Salvador have
not.

Back then the major resort on the island had closed its
doors. Scores of workers were left unemployed and businesses had to close shop
during the FNM’s term.

What San Salvadorans will not forget is that it was my
efforts with the support of the Christie led PLP, which quickly entered into
discussions to reopen the Club Med Resort and bring employment back to the
island.

Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - We've turned 50!

young ladies want to invite the general public to take initiative and
live heart healthy. More importantly, they want the public to follow
their lead and help repair the hearts of children in The Bahamas.
Heart disease is the number one killer of persons around the world and
in The Bahamas. Heart disease does not discriminate by age, gender,
social status or other. As such it can affect individuals, from newborns
to senior citizens. What is significant about these two young ladies
is that they themselves are heart survivors. They received heart surgeries
as infants, thanks to the generosity of The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas)
Heart Foundation and the generous donations of others.
