Nassau, Bahamas - While heart disease in adults is largely preventable through healthy lifestyle choices, it is not the case for children afflicted with congenital heart defects. One of every 100 babies is born with a congenital heart defect and it is the number 1 cause of birth defect related deaths. The costs of urgent cardiac care are high and since 1961, the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation has helped fund over 4,000 life-saving procedures.

The Heart Ball Committee, fundraising arm of the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation, has been hard at work preparing for the November 15, 2015 Tea Party & Fashion Show at Government House and the Annual Heart Ball, February 13, 2016 at Meliá Nassau Beach.

“These are our two major fundraisers for the year,” said Coretta Owen, Co-Chair. “Each year, the Foundation is able to help underwrite the cost of life-saving heart surgeries for Bahamian children and so we’re excited to plan these events that not only get the community involved in saving our kids, but are fun and entertaining.”

“The Tea Party & Fashion Show is November 15 and we’d like anyone who enjoys the pomp and pageantry of High Tea, elegant surroundings, beautiful fashion and the excitement of raffles to come out and support this great cause.”

For tickets, interested persons can call the Heart Foundation office at 327-0806 or visit their Facebook page.
