Nassau, The Bahamas – Christmas Jollification features some of the finest arts and crafts in The Bahamas, a variety of food and a tasting of holiday spirits provided by Bristol Wines and Spirits and Bahamian Brewery all taking place at the Bahamas National Trust Retreat on Village Road this weekend.

Welcoming patrons to the event will be the friendly staff of Commonwealth Bank, who are also major sponsors. These keen bankers will assist the BNT at a number of booths at the event. Once again Jim Whitehead – the Nassau Florist will decorate the pavilion, creating the holiday mood for the event.

The BNT is also very excited this year to be partnering with Caribbean Bottling and Schweppes to offer a special membership promotion. New members who join the BNT on the Friday night Members evening will receive a special Tervis Tumbler and remember if you want to attend on Friday evening the 21st of November you must be a BNT member.

The event opens to the general public on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday November 23 from 11:00am – 5:00pm at The Retreat on Village Road. Jollification will feature over 75 talented artisans who will have wonderful crafts, jewelry and gift items on sale on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the most popular areas at Jollification is the ‘Jolly Market’ which features homemade jams and jellies, cakes, jewelry, hand painted tiles and wonderful straw designs from a number of artisans. And no festival at The Retreat would be complete without a very special Plant Area and of course a raffle with donations from Guy Harvey, Bahamian Club, Steeping Stone Quilters and our wonderful Jollification vendors.

Children are not forgotten and the Children’s Crafts area sponsored by Asa H. Pritchard will feature nature oriented games and activities and Christmas Crafts. There will be face painting, ice cream by Haagen Daz and cotton candy.

While the kids are crafting and Mom is shopping, Dad can chill out in the Mistletoe Lounge in the Pergola area of The Retreat. Bristol Wines and Spirits and Bahamian Brewery and Beverage will have a sampling of holiday spirits and ice cold brews throughout the day. John Watlings Distillery will also be on hand with wonderful gift sets for the rum drinker in your family.

No one goes hungry at the Jollification and this year features a variety of Chefs who will be preparing Bahamian and International Cuisine. The Batter Girls will feature their delicious conch fritters, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will provide patrons with gyros, pastitsio, grilled lamb and everyone’s favorite pastry baklava, and Philippine Delights will provide an Asian flavor. We are very excited to have Events by Alexandra and Rum Bahamas joining us as well. For those who just want an Old Fashioned Hamburger the Nassau East Rotary Hamburger Van will be serving their “world famous in the Bahamas” hamburgers. Caribbean Bottling will also be hand with their selection of sodas with Discovery Club members working in the Coca Cola Van.

Join us for the BNT Christmas Jollification on November 22 & 23 at The Retreat on Village Road from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission is $5 for BNT Members and $10 for the general public.

The Bahamas National Trust was created by an Act of Parliament in 1959 to build and manage the national park system of the Bahamas. Possibly the only non-governmental organization in the world charged with such a responsibility the TRUST, as it is commonly known works daily to conserve and protect the natural resources of The Bahamas, through stewardship and education for present and future generations. There are currently 27 National Parks managed by the TRUST with more than 1 million acres of marine and terrestrial areas protected.
