Bahamas YEP Month Includes College Tour, Mini Fair

The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) continues to be the number one and fastest growing youth-centered organization in The Bahamas.

Today, YEP is excited to officially announce the month of March will be recognized as YEP Month. In the next 31 days, we will celebrate our organization’s accomplishments during our short history, recognize our 600 student participants and 100 volunteers.

From tomorrow’s mini fair to a community day of service, YEP month will be packed, but the highlight to these activities is The College Road Trip 2013.

During the Easter break 58 students will embark on an awesome voyage as they travel to three states in the U. S. visiting colleges and universities, most of which will provide scholarships to our student participants. Colleges like Johnson & Wales University, Saint Leo University, Morehouse College, Spellman College, and Devry College and the Arts Institute will play host to YEP’s students.

Education and exposing our young adults to different cultures is the framework to the Program. For this reason, we are delighted to be paying a courtesy call on the Mayor of Charlotte in North Carolina, Anthony Fox during the college tour.

The College Road Trip 2013 is the climax to YEP month, which officially kicks off tomorrow, Saturday March 2 with a souse out, car wash and mini fair at St Gregory’s Church located on Carmichael Road.

The other events planned include a church service, a community day of service, courtesy calls on government officials, a beach volleyball, basketball and bowling tournaments, a speech competition and an Easter egg hunt.

We encourage the general public to come out and support YEP, our students and calendar of events.
