Freeport, Bahamas - The
Red Rose Ball Committee have garnered a few
good men and women to contribute in this year’s Red Rose Charity event
slated for Saturday,
November 6th, 2010 under the theme:
All
Things Bahamian, Homecoming”
Our guest speaker for
the event is
Dr. Kim Jolly, PhD; ARNP she is certified and comes highly
qualified in the field of the prevention and eradication of HIV/AIDS.
This home grown (Gal)
native of Grand Bahama representing Florida Atlantic University as an
Assistant Researcher says, her motto
is to inspire each person to
value themselves and their life enough to care for and protect themselves
against HIV/AIDS.
She also noted that as
Leaders in any time in human history we are tasked with facing the key
challenges of our generation. HIV/AIDS demands that we as leaders are
able to inspire people to care for themselves as well as enabling people
to have the difficult conversations that will enable large scale behavior
changes. This she says, is my passion, and it’s indeed an honor and
privilege to be able to give back to my community from whence I came,
by lending support in the fight of HIV/AIDS on the Island of Grand Bahama.
HIV can be considered
a chronic manageable disease if we are informed enough to take advantage
of both ART and nutritional strategies. The politics clouding public
debate in the area of Stigma and discrimination are considered by many
to be the greatest threats to curbing the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which has
left many persons confused and thus fearful of knowing their status.
Dr. Jolly says, she wishes
to personally thank the Red Rose Ball Committee for inviting her as
Guest Speaker at this year’s event and she will give her very best
to bring the message across.
See you when YOU return
